The Peace Lines of Belfast-

I was in Ireland,  in the summer of 2017, as an artist in residence at the Burren College of Art. My art practice focuses on cross border art projects. I traveled up to Belfast, in Northern Ireland, to see the Peace Line murals. During my visit, I went through the neighborhoods and photographed the ever-present divisions between the Loyalist and the Nationalist, symbolized by the Union Jack flags and locked gates.

The neighborhoods adjacent to the Peace Lines are separated by high fences and the homes are heavily secured to project against flying bullets from gunshots and bombs. I also had the opportunity to meet with the photographer Frankie Quinn, who grew up near the lines. He has captured this area with his work throughout his life.

Wondering the Burren-

My name is in that big book-
