On April 30th, I attended the 5th door opening ceremony at the US-Mexican border at Border Field State Park in San Diego.  The event was organized by Enrique Morones, of Border Angels, a human rights organization located in San Diego. The Door of Hope was opened by border patrol on the US side and six families were reunited from both sides.  The family meetings were permitted for three to five minutes each. The images chronicle the event from the moment the door opened until the final closing. This event brings much-needed attention to the many families that are separated by the Border.

“In societies where modern conditions of production prevail, all of life presents itself as an immense accumulation of spectacles. Everything that was directly lived has moved away into a representation.”
― Guy Debord
